LUSSAC SAINT-EMILION
The Lussac Saint-Émilion appellation
Located 40 km east of Bordeaux, to the north of the Saint-Émilion appellations, the Lussac Saint-Émilion terroir benefits from an oceanic and temperate microclimate that is particularly favorable to vines.
It benefits from well-distributed rainfall throughout the year with warm temperatures in summer, thanks to the presence of the two rivers, the Isle and the Dordogne. The vines lie on soils that are mainly clay-limestone in the south and clay-loam in the north.
The wine-growing terroirs are staged in valleys and plateaus forming an amphitheater facing south.
The appellation extends over an area of more than 1,450 ha to the north of the hill of Saint Emilion.
The Lussac Saint Emilion vineyard has been protected by an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée since November 14, 1936.
The blend of Saint-Émilion wines is dominated by Merlot combined with Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec.
Merlot brings refined elegance and gives a more accessible and flattering side.
Cabernet Franc gives more tannic and very aromatic wines
The Cabernet Sauvignon brings spicy notes, strengthens tannins and aging potential.
Malbec gives wines with intense aromatic complexity that range from candied red fruits, blueberry prunes to notes of subtle red fruits raspberry and wild strawberry.
The art of the winemaker is to blend his grape varieties in a subtle balance to express the best of its terroir.
The wines of Lussac Saint-Émilion express gourmet and intense aromas, with notes of red fruits, supported by accents of liquorice, prune or spices.
As they age they develop tertiary aromas. On the palate they are elegant and full-bodied, velvety and generous.
They have a high aging capacity.
